Last time I was in Nicaragua, I picked up a short piece of trunk from a coffee tree, left over from pruning, at Finca Esperanza Verde. I had it cut in two pieces, and gave one to my very talented friend Andy to see if he could come up with a creative way to carve it. In addition to the hundreds of hours he has put in as a volunteer for me at the Rouge River Bird Observatory, and construction projects there, Andy has carved bowls, vases, and even a toothpick holder from salvaged wood I have found. Each piece has a particular memory and special meaning to me.
Andy (who is an IRS agent, by the way!) transformed my little memento into a business card holder. How cool is this?! Thanks, Andy!
