New Cafe Femenino origin
I've previously written about Cafe Femenino, sourced from a Peruvian project run entirely by women. These beans are available from a variety of roasters, although I've always purchased from Grounds for Change, which makes an additional donation to the project.
I received a notice from Grounds for Change that they are offering Cafe Femenino from Mexico...
"...grown, processed and traded exclusively by a group of women in southern Chiapas state. The women control the proceeds from the sale of their crop and are fully involved in planning for the next year.
This women's cooperative cultivates their Fair Trade, organic, shade grown coffee within the buffer zone for the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, a Conservation International project that includes nearly 300,000 acres of ten distinct forest types, from perennial tropical forest to high altitude cloud forest. The farmers use conservation practices such as cover crops, the production of organic fertilizers and ecological coffee wet-processing methods, which help them cultivate their coffee with minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
The El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve is home to many rare and endangered species, 300 species of birds, 45 types of reptiles, and 30 species of mammals. Iconic species such as the Resplendent Quetzal and the Jaguar live in El Triunfo.
Grounds for Change will donate 25 cents for each pound of Cafe Femenino Mexico sold directly back to this women's coffee growing project.
Cafe Femenino Mexico is a medium bodied coffee with a bright, nutty flavor and subtle sweetness that is enhanced by a delicate medium roast. We know that you will enjoy this unique coffee for its great taste as well as for the special story that underlies its production."
Bravo, Grounds for Change.

What a great site. I would love to do a post on my other blog (www.charliesbirdblog.com)about it which is very conservation-orientated and gets about 300 unique visitors a day - would it be possible to get a copy of your banner please?
Thanks
Charlie
